Top 10 Greatest Romance Novels of all Time 2013

Romance novels are my favorite read and I have ready many. Since I have read so many I developed my top 10 greatest romance novels of all time list to share with friends and family. Many of my favorites I have read more than once and will certainly read again.

Jane Eyre

An orphaned girl moves in with her aunt and marries a governor but is still in search of more than what her Victorian life offers her. This book is filled with excitement and it is one that I have read several times.

Gone With the Wind

This true classic about Scarlett O’Hara is one of my all time favorites. I love the southern setting and the southern belle atmosphere that this book portrays. I recommend to family and friends and have even recommended it to a few strangers at my bookstore. I think it’s the perfect romance novel for both young and old.

The Bride

When the Scottish king demands his son take a bride he chooses Jamie but she’s not in love with the son Alec and promises herself that she will never give into him. She hears rumors that he killed his first wife and then things begin to happen that threaten her life. I love the whole thing from beginning to end it kept me turning the pages.

Bet Me

This is one of my favorite more contemporary romance novels about two people that date because of a bet and after the date they go thier own ways only to be back together under extenuating circumstances. I found it not only romantic but also humorous.

The Notebook

Truly romantic story from the past that leaps into the future to touch the lives of others in todays world. Nicholas Sparks out did himself on this novel.


I love this sweet story about a sister that brings her younger sister to London in order to find a husband that will help them with their financial status. They are both surprised to learn just how many husbands are available for the both of them. This is a happy story with a happy ending and those are my favorite kinds.

The Princess Bride

This novel has everything, passion, good guys, bad guys, beautiful women, lies, truth and even sex. It kept me interested from cover to cover.

The Flame and the Flower

A sea captain that is married to the sea fall in love a woman trying to escape her world. This novel is filled with excitement and surprise. I have read this book more than once, loaned it out and got it back and read it again.

I’m In Love With A Stripper

This is another of my favorite more contemporary romance novels about a woman that works as a nanny during the day and a stripper at night. The man that she works for as a nanny finds out her secret but he too has secrets of his own. I love the drama that this book overs and though I have it listed last it doesn’t make it any least on my list of the top 10 greatest romance novels of all time.
